Who We Support

Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities
People with learning disabilities often face unique challenges that can affect their overall well-being, including an increased likelihood of experiencing mental health issues. At Aarav Supported Living, we recognize the importance of distinguishing between a person’s learning disability, mental health needs, and physical health to provide truly effective support. Our team is dedicated to understanding each individual’s needs, ensuring that we offer compassionate and tailored care that respects their abilities and aspirations.
Comprehensive Support for Individuals with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health Conditions

At Aarav Supported Living, our approach to supporting individuals with learning disabilities and mental health needs is both holistic and nurse-led, with a team of dedicated professionals specialising in adult care, learning disabilities, and mental health. Our team includes experienced mental health practitioners and specialists in forensic mental health, collaborating closely with community healthcare providers to ensure seamless, localised support. Our well-established relationships with mental health and learning disability teams, as well as substance misuse and forensic specialists, enable us to deliver coordinated care tailored to each person’s specific needs.
Our support is flexible and guided by each individual’s Mental Health Support Plan, emphasising person-centred planning that allows us to develop detailed strategies for crisis and relapse prevention. By setting realistic, meaningful goals for each individual, we foster independence and focus on outcomes that support personal growth and rehabilitation.
To ensure a safe, empowering environment, we carefully balance safeguarding with the freedom for individuals to exercise choice and control over their lives. Personal safety plans and proactive risk management, supported by multi-agency collaboration, form a cornerstone of our care. Depending on individual circumstances, we employ tools like the HCR-20 for risk assessment, ARMIDILO-S for reducing reoffending risks, and self-harm or fire-setting risk management plans to create comprehensive support structures. For individuals who may engage with the criminal justice system, we apply the Good Lives Model, focusing on enhancing quality of life and reducing the risk of reoffending. Through these robust, personalised frameworks, we strive to support every individual’s journey toward greater inclusion, well-being, and independence.
Supporting Individuals with Diverse Mental Health Needs

Aarav Supported Living provides comprehensive support for individuals facing a broad spectrum of mental health needs, including personality disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and dementia. Many of those we support have had challenging experiences, such as multiple hospitalizations, and may face additional complexities like PTSD, physical health issues, relationship challenges, or struggles with addiction, sleep disorders, self-neglect, or self-harm.
Our approach focuses on empowering individuals to realise their full potential over the long term. From the start, we involve each person in planning their own support, which enables us to create personalised care plans and detailed risk management and crisis prevention strategies. By emphasising self-confidence, empowerment, and a positive self-image, we help individuals develop resilience and a sense of independence.
Through proactive, skill-building support, our team works alongside each individual to relearn and strengthen essential daily living skills, promoting greater independence and reducing the need for intensive support. This is achieved in close collaboration with local health services, statutory bodies, and community organisations, creating a support network that is both reliable and adaptive to the individual’s unique journey toward well-being and autonomy.
Supporting Individuals with Challenging Behaviours

At Aarav Supported Living, we provide compassionate, structured support for individuals displaying challenging behaviours, often stemming from complex emotional or behavioural difficulties. Many of those who choose our services have experienced placement breakdowns and multiple hospital admissions. Our approach prioritises safeguarding while empowering individuals to exercise choice and control in their lives. Using proactive, positive behavioural strategies and comprehensive risk management, we work collaboratively to create an environment that supports inclusion and enhances quality of life.
We believe that all behaviour has meaning and serves as a form of communication. By understanding and responding to the underlying needs behind each behaviour, we help foster positive interactions and personal growth. We know that individuals are more likely to thrive when they experience a high quality of life, which includes:
- The ability to communicate their needs, choices, and preferences effectively
- Access to engaging, meaningful activities
- Healthy, supportive relationships with friends, family, and our dedicated staff
- Maintenance of good health and a positive lifestyle
- Opportunities to set and achieve personal goals and aspirations
- Support to build new skills and gain independence
- A living environment that meets their physical, sensory, and social needs
Our goal is to create a setting where each individual feels understood, valued, and empowered. By reducing restrictive practices, including physical interventions and reliance on psychotropic medications, we focus on creating a supportive, respectful environment where individuals with challenging behaviours can develop, grow, and lead fulfilling lives.
